As a postpartum doula I am affiliated with several professional organizations, including Central Texas Doula Association and DONA International. I donate my time as a breastfeeding and parent educator for Family Connections. I believe all families deserve support and non-judgment in the fourth trimester, and it is my goal to reveal to my families the strengths they already possess.
I was born and raised in Kansas and graduated from Carleton College in Minnesota. I lived in London for nearly a year and NYC for seven years and then moved to Austin to start a family… and eventually leave my 11 year career as a media publicist and sometime cupcake artist. I am an avid yogi and am fascinated in the ways breath work can transform our minds.
I became a postpartum doula because I wished I’d had one following the birth of my son. I’ve always been passionate about women’s causes— I was a peer advocate and co-chair of the college women’s center in college, where I also concentrated in women’s studies. We have medical school for doctors, law school for lawyers, but mothers and their partners are left alone to sink or swim following the birth of their children. I hope that by making a difference to every family we work with, my peers and I can slowly change the world and support of new families’ nesting in periods will become standard practice in our country.
